MTX Recommendation

MTX Recommendation — Option 1 to Start

MTX's stated position on siting, sequencing and the November opportunity, and the date by which a decision is needed.

This is MTX's recommendation. It's presented here as reported to the project management team — our assessment of it is on the Programme, Cost & Risk Impact page.
1 — Recommended Route

Proceed with Option 1 to start

MTX recommend proceeding with Option 1 (Car Park 2 Siting) initially, sequenced against the revised crane programme reported 22 July 2026.

MTX recommendOption 1
Car Park 2 Siting to start, on the revised programme (rig 5 Aug → de-rig 8–9 Sep 2026) — see the Programme, Cost & Risk page for the full commercial and cash-flow assessment of this position.

3 — Opportunity

Mitigating car park impact in November

Potential hybrid approach

With the majority of the heavy lifts executed by that point, there is an opportunity to mitigate the impact on car parking in the November period by using Location 2 (the Option 2 siting) at that time. This would involve a smaller crane, as the works being completed by then are only in the courtyard.

The benefit is mitigating car park loss — but moving to Location 2 will bring similar impacts to those seen under Option 2, on maintaining access for the clinical pathway in the Women's Centre. It isn't a clean win either way.
